The fourth Issue of She-hulk continues on a mostly good note as Jennifer Walters seeks to help her client Kristof even after discovering he paid her in Latvarian currency in violation of U.S. anti-terror laws. The dialogue remains funny and even features a guest spot by Matt Murdoch.
On the negative side, I hate the tattered clothes opening splash particularly since there's no reason to use it in this issue. Also, her flight to San Francisco to see Murdoch seemed silly as they just talked and she had no other reason to be there. That's even beyond the silly standards of this book. Plus Murdoch drawn in She-hulk art-style was weird.
Still, the ending was fun, and the whole series just has a great mood.
We get some fun character interaction, humorous situations, and a giant robot Dr. Doom thrown in for good measure.
Last issue, Jen’s client got kidnapped by Dr. Doom immediately after gaining political asylum. While I do understand that Doom does what Doom wants in the Marvel Universe, I find it odd that there are no repercussions for this. In the real world, if a super-powered Vladimir Putin kidnapped somebody who had just fled from Russia, there would be embargos, political action, UN sanctions, and threats of military involvement from the get-go. But that seems to be a bigger story that Charles Soule wants to tell, so Doom gets to violate a ton of international laws because, well, he’s Doom.
Next issue promises us an investigation of Jen’s mysterious Blue File. Contrary to what I stated in a previous review, this is not a lawsuit against the Avengers, but rather a lawsuit against some superheroes and even a couple of supervillains for a case that Jen doesn’t even remember being served. That means there’s probably mind-trickery going on here, and we’ll delve into that more next time.
Once again, this is a light-hearted, fun superhero comic that really emphasizes the versatility that the medium has. If you liked the previous issues, you’ll like this one, too. This book is almost guaranteed to bring a smile to your face, and I highly recommend it.
